Mark co-founded Stony Point with Anne Harcus in 1994. His special talents include strategic planning, creative concepts, campaign management, issues management, and media relations.

During his tenure at Stony Point, the firm has created client campaigns that have won numerous awards at the local, regional, and national levels—including the coveted PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Excellence.

Previously, Mark was corporate director of public relations and marketing for Ingham Regional Medical Center, where he led a team of seven in executing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the health system—its hospital, network operations, service lines, and managed-care division (40 organizations in all.)

Before that, Mark served as senior editor for Medical Economics magazine. Published bi-monthly for 185,000 physicians nationwide, it was the best-read of approximately 200 periodicals aimed at the same audience. He won four awards for journalistic excellence, including the Jesse H. Neal Award (the business press equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize).

His writing has also appeared in Reader's Digest, USA Today, and many business publications.

Earlier in his career, Mark was PR director for Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. There, he created the campaign materials for a successful $20 million development effort; handled media crises involving natural disasters, a nursing strike, and governmental criticisms; produced a weekly radio talk show on the PBS affiliate.

Mark's volunteer work has included serving on the boards of Michigan's Children, Central Michigan Chapter of PRSA , American Heart Association - Michigan Affiliate, Arts Council of Greater Lansing, Lansing Advertising Club, Steiner Chorale, and Woldumar Nature Center, as well as on the communications committees of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Lansing, and other organizations.

Mark earned his bachelor's degree magna cum laude in Journalism and Honors College at Michigan State University.
